Carrier buys into Chinese heat pump market

US AIR conditioning manufacturer Carrier has acquired a controlling interest in one of China's leading heat pump companies.
The joint venture with water source and geothermal heat pump manufacturer Shandong Fuerda Air Conditioner Equipment Co Ltd will allow Carrier China to expand its sustainability offering. With 2010 revenues over $30m, Fuerda has more than 300 employees, a manufacturing facility and 23 sales offices covering 20 provinces in China.

'This joint venture will enhance Carrier's sustainability product portfolio in China and accelerate Fuerda's growth in the marketplace by leveraging our combined strength in technology and distribution,' said Geraud Darnis, president, Carrier.
