Increased regulation and performance standards are meant to encourage innovation and the development of green solutions. Unfortunately, they can result in unintended restrictions on the latest and best new technologies as the market moves faster than the legislators.
On 9 April the International Refrigeration Committee of the Institute of Refrigeration will be holding a business briefing exploring the effect that market regulation has on technology innovation.
The half day event will begin at 12.00pm and will review some of the key policy and regulatory developments affecting the RACHP sector. It will investigate
- What can be done at a national level to ensure that international regulations have the right impact?
- How can regulations help to drive up energy efficiency?
- What has been the real consequence of refrigerant phase out in terms of energy efficiency and market adaptations?
Speakers will include: Lambert Kuijpers, co-chair of the Technical and Economic Assessments Panel (TEAP), Refrigeration, Air conditioning and Heat Pump Technical Options Committee (RTOC) of the UN Environment Programme, Andy Pearson of Star Refrigeration, Dan Bibalou from the Carbon Trust, Dina Koepke, Director of Governmental Affairs, at Emerson Climate Technologies and Chris Playford, Engineering Manager of Foster Refrigeration.
