Building a case for ac in eco buildings

THE QUESTION of how air-conditioning can be built into more sustainable buildings and how the quest to go green impacts ac design and installation is to be discussed in an IOR conference in the capital on October 20.
Building a case for ac in eco buildings
The one-day conference called 'Making a case for air-conditioning - 2008 Annual Conference' will explore the context of the climate change agenda and how it is affecting building services engineering and air conditioning design and installation.

This IOR/CIBSE event brings leading researchers and engineers as speakers to present the design issues of creating buildings that provide good working environments whilst at the same time minimising the environmental impact.

The conference will look at legislative and evaluative tools that support innovative approaches. The conference will include case studies that attempt to show the way forward.

With environmental issues and sustainable buildings becoming higher priority issues, building owners are more and more often asking the question - do we really need to air conditioning our buildings?

Facilities managers, building services consultants and design engineers will gain an understanding of these issues and the impact they will have on future specifications for air conditioning and cooling.
