BRA revises guidance

The British Refrigeration Association (BRA) has revised its Jointing of Copper Pipework for Refrigeration Systems Specification & Procedures for Manual Torch Brazing and Brazer Assessment.

Now at Issue 5 it contains a ‘BRA recommendation’ section to cover vertical upflow test joints which are not currently fully covered in BS EN 14276. The new section covering the vertical upflow test joints is as required by BS EN 13585 and it was considered important that this be included so that training covers all required aspects. Consequently the BRA recommendation covers this aspect until such time that BS EN 14276 is amended.

The BRA has been busy producing guidance in the last 12 months and its informative Fact Finders offer valuable information for the sector.

The most recent are:

Fact Finder 7 - A Guide to Selecting Copper Tube and Fittings for Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Systems with Air Cooled Condensers. Completely updated to be in line with BS EN 14276.

Fact Finder 17 - Using Refrigerant GWP Values – A guide to selecting the appropriate data. Also completely updated to reflect the latest GWP values that will be referred to under the new F-Gas Regulation.

Fact Finder 19 - BRA Recommendation for Specification of Natural Refrigerants. A new Fact Finder covering ammonia (R-717/NH3), hydrocarbons (R-600a/isobutane, R-290/propane, R-1270/propylene, etc) and carbon dioxide (R-744/CO2).
