BPMA highlights role of training in efficient pumping systems

The British Pump Manufacturers Association (BPMA) is encouraging employers across UK industry to invest in technical training for engineers and support staff who work with pump systems. The goal is to improve energy efficiency, meet regulatory standards, and reduce downtime.

Wayne Rose, BPMA.

BPMA courses cover core topics including pump design, system optimisation, and compliance. They’re open to personnel across sectors such as construction, utilities, manufacturing, and energy. All courses lead to industry-recognised credentials.

According to the BPMA, pumps use over 20% of global electricity, and better system design and maintenance could significantly reduce this impact. Training also supports sustainability goals and helps businesses meet tightening efficiency regulations.

BPMA CEO Wayne Rose said: “As pumping systems become more advanced and energy performance targets more demanding, the need for qualified, knowledgeable personnel has never been greater. Our training programmes are independently developed and quality assured to provide engineers, contractors and plant operatives with the expertise required to make informed, efficient decisions across the lifecycle of a pump system. The benefits to employers and the wider economy are clear—better skills mean better outcomes, both commercially and environmentally.”

BPMA training is available to both individuals and organisations. For full course details, visit www.bpma.org.uk.
