At the Chillventa show in Germany last year Blygold Italia was rewarded for coating the millionth coil.

It received an award to celebrate this milestone in Blygold history with Euroklimat, the client that made the one millionth coated coil.

Since Blygold’s foundation in 1976, the focus has been on the corrosion protection of heat exchangers. Being one of the first manufacturers of coil protection coatings, it developed specific working methods and products. Innovation and continual development has led to the worldwide success of the concept.

The applied thin layer, the high UV and chemical resistance properties and the patented application method has led to the significant success of Blygold products. From the beginning, Blygold has treated hundreds of thousands of heat exchanger coil blocks.

The millionth coil was an excellent example of European integration. The project involved the supply of two condensing units that Euroklimat built for its client, Heronhill, for the Sellafield Power Station in Cumbria. The nuclear facility, which now specialises in reprocessing nuclear waste from all parts of the world, required the replacement of two ageing R22 units which were connected to a twin-circuit air handling unit in a computer room. The contractor, MITIE, contacted Heronhill Air Conditioning to find replacements.

Nigel Manning recommended Euroklimat as it could produce R407C units of very similar specification.

With the plant located on the North West coast, the equipment had to be Blygold treated to withstand the corrosive environment. Heronhill specialises in air conditioning equipment, components and spare parts, and having worked with Blygold UK for many years, recognised the need to have the coils treated.

Euroklimat, a client of Blygold Italia, decided to get the coil coated before assembly, and that is how Blygold Italia coated the millionth coil.
