Bitzer UK unveils training initiative

Heading up the programme is recently appointed technical and training manager Marcus Levy (pictured). He said: “In the age of F-Gas and related responsibilities, we are all conscious of the importance of ensuring the highest standards of design, application, commissioning and maintenance for refrigeration and air conditioning systems.

Bitzer UK is launching a training initiative designed to update the technical knowledge and practical skills of designers, installers and service engineers in compressor application and maintenance.

A new programme of one-day courses being rolled-out this Autumn will cover the latest developments in compressor and condensing unit technology. Modules will provide a combination of theoretical and hands-on training, and be held at a training facility at the company’s Milton Keynes headquarters.

“The courses provide an opportunity for designers, engineers and more hands-on end users to get up to speed with the latest compressor and condensing unit technology, and how to apply it efficiently and safely, with respect for the environment and in full compliance with the F-Gas requirements.”

Courses will cover a general introduction to compressor technology, as well as detailed modules on screw compressors, reciprocating compressors, and condensing units. A key theme will be a focus on UK requirements and applications.

Bitzer UK managing director Kevin Glass said: “The aim is to provide a valuable blend of solid technical training in the principles behind the technology, plus practical help that addresses the real-world application issues that designers and engineers face.”

The Bitzer UK training facility has capacity for up to 16 delegates at a time. Following a course, delegates receive a certificate showing successful completion of training.

Courses cover topics such as understanding and managing refrigerant Glide, the regulatory framework and implications of the coming phase-down of high global warming F-Gas refrigerants, and using online resources to support commissioning and ongoing servicing.

The Bitzer UK initiative is part of a wider training drive taking place within the Bitzer Group. The company is due to complete its new international training centre, the Schaufler Academy, at Rottenburg-Ergenzingen in Germany in October.
