The partnership is particularly fitting as Bitzer’s high-efficiency screw compressors, which were installed by G&O Refrigeration Ltd, play a key role in maintaining the ice at the Lee Valley Ice Centre, the team’s home rink.
The Olympic-grade facility in North East London relies on four Gorac chillers based on high efficiency inverter-driven Bitzer CSVH screw compressors to deliver optimum performance and ice quality, creating the perfect surface for competitive play.
“This sponsorship represents a natural extension of our long-standing relationship with Lee Valley Ice Centre,” said Kevin Glass, Managing Director of Bitzer UK. “We’re proud that our technology underpins the very ice the Lions train and compete on. Supporting the team on and off the rink reinforces our commitment to excellence, innovation and community engagement. We’re looking forward to an exciting and successful season with the Lions.”
The Lee Valley Lions, originally formed in 1984, compete in the National Ice Hockey League 2 South. With a growing fanbase, attendances of up to 1000 for each home game and over one million video views across social platforms last season, the Lions offer a vibrant platform for brand exposure.
James Joseph, General Manager, Lee Valley Lions, added: “We’re thrilled to welcome Bitzer UK as our lead jersey sponsor for the upcoming season. Their reputation for quality engineering and innovation perfectly aligns with our team’s spirit and ambitions. The connection between Bitzer’s refrigeration systems and our ice centre makes this a truly authentic and meaningful partnership.”
Members of the Bitzer UK team were in the crowd for Lions’ opening game of the season as they faced off against London rivals, Haringey Huskies. The Bitzer UK team then made their way down to the ice to meet and greet the players.
