GERMANY: Peter Schaufler, the ceo and chairman of German air conditioning and refrigeration compressor manufacturer Bitzer, is to have a street named after him in recognition of his entrepreneurial achievements.
The newly-named Peter-Schaufler-Strasse, leads directly to the company's factory on the Ergenzingen-Ost industrial park in Rottenburg am Neckar.
Schaufler, who took over the company from his father in 1979, has been the driving force behind Bitzer's subsequent worldwide expansion. Bitzer has invested €70m in its Rottenburg factory in the last 10 years, and €15m in the last 12 months alone. This latest investment has included a 9,000m2 expansion of its production and warehousing space, which now houses the replacement parts warehouse, dispatch, final assembly of screw compressors, painting facilities, office and social spaces, and technical rooms.
