BESA Training introduces site safety courses

BESA Training has launched three new courses targeting site supervisors and people who have recently started to work within the building engineering services sector.

The Site Safety Plus scheme provides all levels of the workforce with a framework for health and safety training and career development.

Chief executive of BESA, Paul McLaughlin, said: 'Following requests from our members to supply nationally accredited training for health and safety, BESA Training is pleased to be introducing these courses, which are recognised by Build UK and cover the amendments to the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015'.

He continued: 'As a sector, we need to ensure that our work is compliant with these important changes and BESA Training needs to ensure that all relevant personnel have access to them. We will be designing and delivering more courses soon that will help our members to keep their continuous professional development and compliance requirements up-to-date.'

A two-day course, the Site Supervisors' Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) is aimed at those who work on-site in a supervisory capacity or are moving into such a position. On completion, delegates will have gained an understanding of health and safety law, have identified their supervisor responsibilities for the control of site safely, and be able to carry out site inductions, toolbox talks and risk assessments.

The Site Supervisors' Safety Training Scheme refresher course is a one-day course for people who have previously undertaken the SSSTS course and must be completed within five years of the original training.

The three courses are being staged at BESA Training's headquarters in Burnham, Buckinghamshire. The Health and Safety Awareness takes place on Tuesday 5 April; the Site Supervisors' Safety Training Scheme takes place on Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 April; and the Site Supervisors' Safety Training Scheme Refresher will be held on Friday 15 April.

Delegate places are priced from £122.00 (plus VAT) and can be booked by email at training@theBESA.com.
