Chandler achieved the highest score nationally of all those who took part in the regional heats for SkillFRIDGE, the RACHP contest which aims to address the skills crisis in industry while serving as a career-boosting platform for those who compete.
Employed by West Country air conditioning specialist Thermocold Ltd, Chandler successfully completed his four-year apprenticeship course with Bath College this September.
He will be joining five fellow competitors to take part in the SkillFRIDGE final on 15-17 November as part of WorldSkills UK LIVE – the UK’s largest apprentice event and skills competition – at Birmingham’s NEC.
A finalist from the 2017 SkillFRIDGE competition cycle was also recognised at the BESA Awards on 1 November, as Jonathon Lansdowne from refrigeration, mechanical and electrical installations specialist Technical Retail Services came away with the award for Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Apprentice of the Year.
