Beijer to buy SCM Frigo

WITH the ink barely dry on the contract to acquire Carrier's refrigeration wholesaling operation in Thailand, the Swedish wholesaler G & L Beijer has announced its intention to buy the Italian refrigeration equipment manufacturer SCM Frigo.
The £20m SCM Frigo business, headquartered in Padova, is best known for its packaged refrigeration systems for commercial and industrial applications. Established in 1979, the company has most recently gained a reputation for its work with ammonia and CO2 and has delivered a large number of CO2 systems to several large food chains in Scandinavia.

With exports accounting for 75% of its business, the acquisition provides G & L Beijer with a great opportunity to increase the sale of SCM Frigo's products in Beijer's existing markets.

G & L Beijer will initially acquire 51% of SCM Frigo shares with an option to acquire the remaining 49%.
