Asda sees sales fall

Asda’s like-for-like sales were down by 7.5% in the second quarter of this year.

Asda’s like-for-like sales were down by 7.5% in the second quarter of this year.

The retailer also reported a 5.7% fall in sales for the first quarter of the year.

The company welcomed Sean Clarke, the former head of its China business, as its new chief executive in July, replacing Andy Clarke.

Chief executive of Walmart, Asda’s parent company, Doug McMillon said: “While our turn-around will take time, I’m confident in the new leadership team there and want to assure you we’re addressing this with urgency.”
