Andrews Water Heaters revamps leading sizing tool

In December, Andrews Water Heaters is launching a new and improved version of its original sizing tool for water heating specification: Size-it.

Quicker, personalised and now accessible online on any device, the new Size-it helps specifiers to select the most appropriate Andrews Water Heater for a project.

Available for free via the Andrews Water Heaters website, the new tool allows users to manage a portfolio of projects and tailor the sizing to their exact property type and hot water requirements. Size-it also provides up-to-date legislative guidance and all information given can be easily downloaded as a summary or detailed report.

Size-it calculations are based on the hot-water requirements guidance in CIBSE’s Guide G Public health and plumbing engineering and Andrews Water Heaters’ 40 years’ experience in hot water generation.

The original Size-it tool, launched in 1996, was the first of its kind by any commercial UK water heating company. The way it worked was simple – users just inputted their hot water requirements depending on property type to determine appropriate products that would meet their needs. The sizing guide was based recommended the system design to suit a building’s usage, hot water demand, fuel type and other specifications as well as a minimum temperature of 50 degrees Celsius, in line with the latest Building Regulations.

In the 20 years since its launch, a handful of other sizing tools have been launched as more manufacturers aim to combat the issue of oversizing. However, more still needs to be done to assist engineers with straightforward, accurate sizing calculations while on site.   This is why Andrews Water Heaters is revamping its original Size-it tool. In addition to allowing users to manage a portfolio of projects and tailor the sizing to their exact property type and hot water requirements, the new version is quicker, personalised and more accessible. Originally Size-it was only available on a CD but today it can be accessed on any internet-connected device, including tablets and smartphones.

Chris Meir, sales director at Andrews Water Heaters, said: “Size-it was the first sizing tool of its kind for the UK water heating industry, and remained the market leader. Following recent insight into the needs of our customers, we’ve made the UK’s number one sizing tool even better.

“Size-it is now more user-friendly and informative than ever before and can be accessed on any electronic device. Users can save project templates for future jobs and can earn a 2% heat efficiency credit* just by using the tool.

“Ultimately, we’ve made it as easy as possible for busy professionals to get the information they need in order to match the right product to the right job.”

Introduced in 1996, Andrews Water Heaters’ CD sizing tool was the first of its kind for the water heating industry. The launch of the new Size-it is the latest milestone in the company’s successful history and coincides with its 40th anniversary celebrations.

In 2016, Andrews Water Heaters celebrates 40 years as one of the UK’s leading providers of gas fired water heaters for commercial and industrial applications. For more information, visit www.andrewswaterheaters.co.uk or for the latest news on Size-it, visit www.sizeit.co.uk.
