AMP doubles sales of air conditioning units

Expanding independent distributor AMP has reported a dramatic increase in sales of Toshiba air conditioning units following a company-wide sales initiative.

The supplier more than doubled sales of Toshiba room air conditioners in 2014, following what it considered an already healthy performance in 2013.

It achieved significant growth in sales of Toshiba high efficiency air conditioning units, with a year-on-year increase of 130 per cent.

AMP director, Polly McConachie, said: “Toshiba has been running a promotion on room air conditioning units, and we saw it as an opportunity to focus effort and grow sales at this end of the market.

“Room air conditioners is a highly competitive sector, but with support from the manufacturer we have been able to generate a lot of interest and significantly boost sales. Our sales teams have really got behind it - and it has taken off.”

As part of the promotion the company ran a prize draw, with winners receiving a weekend in a luxury boutique hotel, a Toshiba tablet and Arsenal premier league tickets.

The best-selling model – outstripping other units by two-to-one - is the 3.5kW Toshiba RAS-137 hi-wall spilt system, which uses an inverter-driven twin rotary high efficiency compressor and comes with a wireless remote controller.

The distributor has recently expanded its sales team to support its strategic plans for growth.

AMP puts great emphasis on staff training, with product workshops and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) training held in-house. It also organises tailored sales training for team members, based on individual requirements.
