A description of Sashi Dahnan has been released by police who are keen to talk to him about a failed £1.5m drug smuggling operation.

In July 2007, high grade heroin was hidden within the packaging of several air coolers, but was intercepted by HM Revenue and Customs during a joint operation with Leicestershire Police.

At Birmingham airport, heroin was found concealed around the packaging of several adiabatic air coolers bound for a freight forwarding company in the West Midlands. In total thirty packages of heroin weighing almost 30 kilos were seized.

At the time Detective Inspector David Sandall said he believed 19 units in total came into the UK via the same route and ACR News ran a police appeal for the acr industry to help police track down all the air coolers used in the drugs smuggling operation.

Each of the adiabatic air-coolers have been valued at between £2,000-£5,000.

Police describe the operation as a highly organised, sophisticated smuggling plot. In total 15 men and three women from Leicester, Birmingham and London have been arrested in connection with the investigation. All have since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Detectives looking for Dahnan, believe he has family in Birmingham, and contacts in London, Belfast and Northamptonshire.
