ACRIB SKILLcard goes digital with new mobile app

The ACRIB Refrigerant Handling SKILLcard is now available in digital format, offering cardholders instant access via a dedicated mobile app. Once approved, applicants can download their SKILLcard directly to the app, eliminating delays associated with physical cards and reducing the risk of loss or damage. The app also enables users to monitor and update their qualifications and renewal dates, helping them stay compliant with industry requirements.

The ACRIB SKILLcard includes all refrigerant handling qualifications held by the operative, such as Hydrocarbon/Flammables, Carbon Dioxide, and Ammonia, alongside the mandatory F Gas Certificate and Health and Safety Awareness Test. Depending on vocational qualifications, cards are issued in white, blue, or gold. Uptake is rising rapidly as more professionals recognise the importance of demonstrating competence across all customer-facing projects, not just construction sites.

“This is an important step forward for the ACRIB SKILLcard,” said Neil Roberts, Chair of ACRIB. “The digital system not only makes life easier for employers and cardholders renewing their card but also means they are ready to add more qualifications to handling new refrigerants when needed, supporting their commitment to continued professional development.”

Beyond streamlining access, the digital rollout supports the industry’s net-zero goals by reducing reliance on plastic cards. The SKILLcard app is available now to all approved cardholders.
