ACR experts gather for Transforming Technologies

INDUSTRY experts are getting together for the Transforming Technologies conference on March 3, to talk about new technologies set to transform the efficiency, cost-effectiveness and future of air conditioning and refrigeration.

Speakers, government advisors, acr consultants, end users and contractors are signing up to visit London's Institute of Mechanical Engineers for the Transforming Technologies conference, hosted by ACR News.

At the conference, experts will discuss various topics including:-

-A new approach to fault diagnosis that saves time and money
-How to transform the energy efficiency of acr plant for clients
-The impact of new micro-channel heat exchange technology
-HFOs - the inside track on the new generation of refrigerants
-New hydrocarbon blends that could replace HFCs
-New scroll compressors from Copeland designed for heating

The conference welcome speech will be given by Graeme Fox, immediate past chairman of HVCA's RAC Group and a director of AREA Air Conditioning and Refrigeration European contractors' Association.

'The heat exchange revolution: Microox micro channel technology' is presented by Justin Schofield and Joseph Ria from H Guntner UK. They will talk about:-

·The new approach to heat exchange
·How minute tubular channels work
·Implications for system design
·The future of the technology

Tony Sgarbi from Permafrost will discuss 'Improving performance with chemically engineered additives'. He will discuss:

·What are special additives?
·What is their impact on performance?
·Response of contractors and end users
·The future contribution of special additives to the industry

'Opportunities for harnessing new HC refrigerant blends' is the topic presented by Nicholas Cox from Earthcare Products. He will speak about:

·Why HCs are attractive
·Practical field tests
·Issues for system designers, contractors and end users
·The future of the HC refrigerants


Dr Guy Hundy from Emerson Climate Technologies will discuss 'Scroll compressor development for heating applications'. Dr Hundy will speak about:

·Developments in technology and application
·Why heating?
·Results from the lab and the real world
·Next steps in application
·The future of scroll compression

Klas Berglof, ClimaCheck, Sweden will present 'Performance inspections for optimising RAC plant' and will discuss how ClimaCheck works and how to quickly diagnose faults and underperformance in working systems.

'Practical field performance analysis of acr systems' is presented by Mike Creamer md of Business Edge. He will talk about how ClimaCheck should be used in the field.

Ken Strong from Cool Therm, in partnership with KlimaTherm and Geoclima will discuss 'Practical applications of new turbine compressor technology'. This includes discussing:-
