Academics present findings of three year refrigeration project

ACADEMICS are inviting the commercial refrigeration industry to hear the findings so far of nearly three years of research into where and how energy consumption can be reduced from refrigeration systems.
Staff from Bristol University, London University of South Bank, Brunel University and Sunderland University are the four academic institutions who will discuss their research at Birmingham's National Motorcycle Museum on April 3.

Practical industry tests, theoretical research and mathematical modelling are included in the research project, funded by DEFRA.

'Technologies and Practices to Reduce the Energy Inputs into the Refrigeration of Food' is the name of the event taking place from 10.30am until 4.30pm.

Academics from the universities will talk about energy savings in the cold chain, in primary food cooling, in cold storage, in refrigerated transport and in retail and commercial refrigeration.

Refrigerant leakage, maintenance and emerging refrigeration technologies are amongst the key topics scheduled to be discussed.

Attendance is free and is open to all. Currently 60% of attendees are from the commercial refrigeration industry and 40% come from the food industry including retailers, caterers and transport firms.

This is the second of three presentations scheduled to take place. The third presentation takes place on June 3 and focuses on the project's conclusions, which will coincide with the project's completion this June.

To attend this event call Wendy Larder on 0117 928 9239.
