AC inspector courses run by CIBSE

To meet the requirement for Energy Performance Certificates, CIBSE is running courses this April to train energy assessors to conduct air conditioning inspections.
From April 6, 2008 energy performance certificates will be needed when commercial buildings are built, sold or rented. Thousands of certificates will be required from this date and a large number of accredited energy assessors will be required to provide them.

New rules require all ac systems above 250 kW to be inspected by an accredited air-conditioning inspector no later than January 4, 2009.All other systems over 12kW rated output must be inspected no later than January 4, 2011.

CIBSE Certification is one of the first organisations to get approval to offer accreditation of energy assessors and air conditioning inspectors. Two training courses will be run in London on April 14 and May 23.

Public buildings throughout England and Wales will need to display an energy certificate from October 2008.
