A-Gas staff complete marathon cycle ride for RNLI

Six staff from A-Gas have cycled more than 110 miles, from Holyhead to Chester, to raise funds for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

Six staff from A-Gas have cycled more than 110 miles, from Holyhead to Chester, to raise funds for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

Francis Burraston, Gwen Adamson-Dunn, Phil Boynes, Jimmy Holmes, Mike Gorham and Tony Hancorn coped admirably with the many hills and the bad weather along the way to complete the challenge in ten hours, over two days, and raise money for the voluntary organisation.

Afterwards Francis Burraston said: “It was certainly a trip to remember. On the first day it rained heavily and we found ourselves cycling into a strong headwind. We got soaked to the bone but it was all for a good cause and we are delighted that we have completed the ride.”

Fellow A-Gas employee Paul Sunshine was on hand to provide back-up with a van and to meet the intrepid group after they completed their marathon cycle ride. Tony Hancorn is manager of the RNLI lifeboat station at Portishead, near Bristol, and knows how crucial the work of the RNLI is in saving lives at sea. Money donated will help pay for equipment and support for the rescue teams.

The A-Gaspers have already raised more than £1,500 and are aiming to reach £2,000. To make a contribution to the fund visit uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/a-gaspers
