A-Gas named official refrigerant supplier for Skillfridge

A-Gas has been appointed as the refrigerant supplier for this year’s Skillfridge competition at the ACR Show, which takes places at the NEC, Birmingham, from February 16-18.

Six apprentices from across the UK will compete to win the gold medal. The 12-hour hands-on competition showcases the skills and knowledge required to work in the HVACR industry. This includes electrical wiring, fault-finding, pipe work fabrication, joining of materials, commissioning, refrigerant charging, efficient set up and recovery of refrigerant.

Managing director of A-Gas, John Ormerod, said: “A-Gas likes to support best practice in the industry and the correct way to do so is to help young engineers develop the right skills at the start of their careers. If you get a sense of best practice at this early level it does help raise the overall standard of skills in the industry.”

The candidates will be given a project to install and assemble on the Tuesday and Wednesday of the show, with the winner being announced on the Thursday afternoon. A-Gas refrigerants and service gases will be used as part of the installation, testing and commissioning of the projects during the competition. A-Gas is on stand C30 at the show.
