Managing director of A-Gas in Europe John Ormerod said: “Launching A-Gas Italia is a great opportunity for us to expand further afield and to use our expertise and proven track record in the wider refrigerants market. We are looking forward to exciting times ahead and working within the newly expanded team to grow our service with existing and new customers in the region.”
A-Gas will integrate the existing workforce into the business as part of the transaction and look to grow and continue to invest in the site and region of Abruzzo in Italy. This will allow A-Gas to recover and reclaim used refrigerant from across Italy in line with its aim of maintaining its position as the global leader in full lifecycle management of refrigerant gases.
This is the sixth acquisition by A-Gas since the investment by Private Equity firm KKR in mid-2017. That year A-Gas bought the Netherlands-based reclamation business, BTC, followed in 2018 by Arthur Friedrichs Kältemittel – now A-Gas Deutschland – a leading German supplier of refrigerants to the European automotive sector. In 2019, the acquisition of Singapore based, VEMAC Services, established A-Gas as a market leader in the recovery, reclamation and sales of refrigerants in south east Asia .
The company also acquired USA-based refrigerant reclamation specialist Diversified Pure Chem in 2017 as part of its wider global growth plan, as well as Californian-based H3R Clean Agents earlier this year.
