Steve Gill elected as IoR president from 2016

ACR consultant Steve Gill has been elected as the next president of the Institute of Refrigeration (IoR) from 2016.

He becomes president-elect next month and will take over from current president Graeme Maidment in April 2016.

The counting of the votes by IoR members was concluded by the independent body, Electoral Reform Services, on Friday 27 February. The other candidate was Frigesco director and former president of the British Refrigeration Association, Bob Arthur.

Speaking to ACR News editor Lynn Sencicle, Steve said: “I am humbled that the Executive Council and the membership have put their faith and trust in me to be the President. I consider it to be a great honour. I hope to build upon the successes of the current President, and am looking forward to working with him during the coming year.

“The IOR does a lot of fabulous work and it is important that we get that message out there. I have been fortunate during my career to have worked in many countries and met with many of our overseas members. I feel that this experience will help to broaden and grow our overseas membership. Becoming the President is something that early in my career I would never have dreamed remotely possible and I find it still has to sink in.

“I would especially like to thank Bob Arthur for generously also agreeing to stand. Both Bob and myself believe that the election process has been important for the IOR as it gives the membership a choice. I am sure that Bob will continue to make a valuable contribution to the IOR for a long time to come,” he concluded.
