IRS gains ISO 50001 accreditation

Refrigeration and cooling specialist IRS Limited has been awarded accreditation to international standard ISO 50001.

Refrigeration and cooling specialist IRS Limited has been awarded accreditation to international standard ISO 50001.

IRS worked with certification body ACM to gain the accreditation as part of its commitment to improving energy related performance and energy efficiency, by identification of energy reduction opportunities.

Technical director, Trevor Owen, said: “Increasing efficiency and reducing energy costs has always been at the heart of the organisation. Our new ISO 50001 accreditation demonstrates our commitment to quality systems and service delivery to our customers throughout the UK. We are also currently working towards ISO 14000 and hope to achieve accreditation by early spring next year.”

The ISO 50001 standard offers guidance for organisations in integrating an energy management system, which complements and improves the organisation's environmental management and quality management systems. It provides a framework for businesses to develop an energy efficient policy, set objectives to meet the policy, review the effectiveness of the policy and continually improve energy management.
