DuPont Chemicals & Fluoroproducts and its refrigerant distributor IDS Refrigeration have launched a competition to find the longest running, best performing, most robust R-22 commercial refrigeration/air conditioning installation in UK.
While EU legislation (Regulation EC No 2037/2000) prohibits the sale of virgin or recycled HCFCs from 1 January 2015, there is still a need for contractors to maintain existing refrigeration and air conditioning installations to the satisfaction of their equipment owners. For this reason, DuPont Chemicals & Fluoroproducts has launched a competition to identify the longest running R-22 installation in Europe.
The aim of the competition is two-fold: to recognise and reward the excellent efforts of those refrigeration and air conditioning service professionals who have successfully maintained the R-22 installations, keeping them fully operational; and to encourage equipment owners and contractors to convert their installations from R-22 to DuPont’s ISCEON, primarily to ISCEON MO99 (R-438A).
After completing the list of qualifying R-22 installations, DuPont Chemicals & Fluoroproducts will award prizes to those installers and equipment owners who have chosen to convert their existing system(s) to ISCEON MO99 (or any other ISCEON refrigerant suitable for the application). The prizes consist of a reimbursement to the equipment owner of the full charge of the retrofit (up to 250kg), plus an equivalent amount as free-of-charge product for the installer/contractor for future servicing.
In addition, the competition will reward the installer responsible for servicing the longest running R-22 installation in participating European countries. In recognition of their outstanding work, the winner will receive two large cylinders of Opteon XP40 (R-449A).
The competition is open to certified installers based in the UK and the winners will be announced in March 2015. Only those installations that have been retrofitted with ISCEON before 1 February 2015 will be eligible for the prizes.
