$165,000 fine for CFC emissions

THE New York City Transit Authority is to pay $165,000 to settle a lawsuit brought by the US government alleging that it failed to repair air conditioning systems on its subway cars in a timely manner.
This is the latest in a number of settlements to lawsuits brought against high-profile US corporations, as the US government seeks to minimise the release of ozone-destroying CFCs.
