TEN THOUSAND Euros is up for grabs for the best energy-saving idea proposed for use in refrigeration and/or air conditioning.
The Association of European Refrigeration Compressor and Controls Manufacturers (ASERCOM) is sponsoring the ASERCOM Energy Efficiency Award in 2008 and the deadline for entries is June 30, 2008.
'Energy consumption over the lifetime of refrigeration and air conditioning systems has a greater contribution to greenhouse gases than HFC refrigerant direct emissions',
said a spokesman for ASERCOM.
He added 'In Europe, for example, such systems account for approximately 14% of the overall power consumption. Hence, efficiency improvement is our industry's primary responsibility in the reduction of emissions'.
An international panel of technical experts will evaluate each application which must present a new concept that is technically feasible and economically viable.
