Vita Talalay relies on ICS Cool Energy

ICS Cool Energy helped Vita Talalay, a manufacturer of quality mattresses, to keep its operations running with a bespoke temporary very low temperature (VLT) process cooling system. During the five weeks of modernisation and replacement works of its existing system, the Netherlands based manufacturer saved 120,000 Euros by maintaining the production running with ICS Cool Energy’s hire solutions.

Vita Talalay mattresses are made with latex. During the manufacturing process, the latex mixture is cooled down by the heat exchangers, which require a combination of glycol and water at a constant temperature of -30 degrees Celsius. This makes the right and reliable cooling system a vital element of the production process. Vita Talalay was planning chiller replacement works and was looking for the right hire solutions to keep their operations running during the time of the modernisation project. After careful research Vita Talalay trusted ICS Cool Energy with the job to deliver the right cooling solution to temporarily replace the existing system.

“Shutting down the production because of the cooling system’s modernisation works would have been very costly. This is something we wanted to avoid and needed a partner who could provide a temporary system to keep us going,” said Frank Verkoelen, project manager at Vita Talalay.

To provide a temporary alternative for the fixed system, ICS Cool Energy delivered and installed four VLT 60 units with additional dry coolers and total cooling capacity of 360kW. The VLT 60 cold units are capable of delivering temperature at -40 degrees Celsius and come in a 10-foot ISO container facilitating the delivery and installation on site. Additionally, a set of strategically fitted pumps ensured the right pressure and flow of ultra-cold mixture of glycol and water at -30 degrees Celsius.

“We have been really careful when choosing the right partner for the job,” continued Verkoelen.  “Our previous hire installation by another company couldn’t deliver the right capacity and efficiency needed by our process. The team at ICS Cool Energy convinced us with their expertise and the ability to deliver a tailored approach to our system. They did the job, and we maintained production. This saved us 120.000 Euros when compared to a five-week production shutdown.”

“ICS Cool Energy brings in 30 years of experience from over 30,000 completed hire projects across Europe,” said Nick Welten, Account Manager at ICS Cool Energy Netherlands. “At Vita Talalay we were able to leverage that expertise. We carefully investigated their process requirements and tailored our temporary solutions to fully operate in tandem with their existing installations, process and within the premises. We’re proud we were able to help them keep their operations running.”

ICS Cool Energy owns the largest hire fleet in Europe to support short, medium and long-term heating and cooling requirements – for emergencies, temporary cover during essential maintenance as well as for the longer term. The 500MW of chiller hire fleet includes chillers from 3kW to 1.4MW with liquid leaving temperatures from +15°C to -40°C from a single unit.
