Additional Engagements

With the augmentation from ISO 9001:2000 to ISO 9001:2008 & increasing client demands Stilring Consulting now undertakes direct works!

Demonstrating their continued client commitment Stirling Consulting has recently been accredited with ISO 9001:2008 and in light of current response levels will progress into the area of direct works as requested. Our typical engagement involves a considered system evaluation to identify shortfalls in meeting client expectations. Results are not always from the most expected source but the consequence is normally the same. The project works will have consumed all of the capital expenditure allowance and the client faces the ramifications of attempting to seek redress or admit liability for the problem(s). In either event experience shows us that the biggest hurdle and this has no reflection upon them, remains that of confidence from incoming contractor(s) since many of the recommendations may have been detailed by the previous contractor/design team.

In recognition of this quite recognisable phenomenon Stirling Consulting will attempt to alleviate the condition by engaging in works from design through to completed installation. We consider this as ‘Single-Point Accountability (SPA)’ & whilst the concept is nothing new the current climate has caused many to focus on this as the principal form of approach. Having adopted the SPA scheme for client’s unfortunate enough to have experienced problems, to a greater or lesser degree, it remained a short step to manifest the process to include new or instructed projects and this represents the most recent manifestation of the company.

Despite an increasing client awareness of the need to reduce power consumption as encouraged by Display Energy Certificates (DEC’s), Energy Performance Certificates (EPC’s), Air Conditioning Inspections & Home Information Packs (HIP’s) to name a few examples, a demonstration of less than ideal advice took place recently where a server room, in Stirling less than three minutes from our office, was air conditioned as the means of temperature control. A better solution would have incorporated free cooling from ambient air. If you exclude the operating costs of full air conditioning for a moment the next major consideration will be felt by the landlord since the EPC rating conditions have changed thereby potentially affecting the overall building performance.

It’s an old adage but ‘the person asking the question is in the driving seat’ we suggest that you follow this to the full.
