EPA approves three hydrocarbon alternatives

THE US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has added isobutane (R600a), propane (R290) and the R-441A blend (of ethane, propane, butane and isobutane) as acceptable hydrocarbon alternatives in household and small commercial refrigerators and freezers.

Danfoss hit by huge €90m fine

COMPRESSOR manufacturer Danfoss has been fined a massive €90m by the European Commission for its part in the cartel conspiracy which has already brought fines for some companies in the US, Canada and Brazil. Also fined by the EC were ACC, Embraco and Panasonic in a total fine for the cartel participants of over €161m.

THE president and CEO of Danfoss, Niels B Christiansen, has expressed his distress at his company's involvement in the international refrigeration compressor price-fixing cartel which led to a huge Euro90m fine from the European Commission on Wednesday.
