Reward for resident who found dumped refrigerant

REFRIGERANT supplier A-Gas is to offer a finders fee to the member of the public who found a refrigerant gas cylinder reportedly dumped in a residential street last week. The story of how Mitcham, Surrey, resident Neil Malcolm discovered the cylinder appeared in the online edition of the Wimbledon Guardian on Monday. The incident is said to have sparked an investigation by Merton Council's environmental health department.

Recycler prosecuted for burning fridges

THE boss of a recycling firm has been convicted of illegally dumping and burning waste fridges and air-conditioners, according to the Journallive.co.uk website. It reports that an undercover surveillance operation by Newcastle City Council discovered Ian Chapman, director of Fast Track Recycling Services in Cramlington, Northumberland, had been burning the waste instead of recycling it.
