As the first international event on this topic, the programme sought to bring together world experts in research as well as a wide range of people actually applying these refrigerants in practice.
The purpose was the share knowledge and improve understanding of how the rapid transition to these new refrigerants is being managed by the sector. Comments from the 175 delegates from over 24 countries who attended, and who had access to over 80 presentations, keynote talks and courses, have confirmed that the most critical issues for them are flammability, safety, risk and legislation.
As one of the delegates commented: “I have gained a better understanding some of the regulatory hurdles to implementing use of A2L refrigerants, especially risk assessments. I have discovered a lot about HFO flammability and risk, and am learning more about approaches to hazardous area zoning for A2Ls.”
For many it was an opportunity to improve their understanding of HFO developments, how they are being integrated into the market and to gain updates regarding safety considerations or barriers to wider adoption.
The event saw technical papers running in three parallel streams, and offered an invaluable opportunity to meet people with experience and knowledge in the field of flammable refrigerants was invaluable.
