Daikin launches Altherma for flats

A VERSION of Daikin's Altherma heat pump has now been developed for use in flats and apartments. Daikin says the new system can supply hot water up to a maximum of 80 deg C. The heat recovery system allows simultaneous heating, cooling, and domestic hot water.

Designed specifically for the European market, where outdoor space is at a premium, the new Altherma allows one outdoor unit to connect to a maximum of ten indoor units. It employs a cascade refrigerating system using R410A in the outdoor unit as a heat source with R134A being used to supply hot water.
