The Eco-Efficiency model has been assessed by Cemafroid, an independent technical centre and cold chain expert. Supermarket owners and other refrigeration system users previewed the model during Chillventa eSpecial.
Using the Eco-Efficiency calculator, supermarket owners can compare the total cost of ownership and environmental impact of alternative system architectures when making investment decisions. After entering their own desired operating parameters, users can visualise the best refrigeration system options for their store. This model helps them understand which alternatives allow them to achieve their environmental targets at the lowest total costs over the lifecycle of the system.
“With many refrigeration systems options available, users might struggle to understand how they should select their new system and determine how to reduce emissions and costs over the whole life cycle of the installation,,” said Mohammed Youbi Idrissi, director of expertise, research and innovation, Cemafroid. “After evaluating the Eco-Efficiency model, we can confirm it offers a useful decision-making tool to compare several commercial refrigeration architectures.”
“There is a lot of misinformation on refrigerants. The Eco-Efficiency model puts data in front of users in an easily understandable form, so that they can make informed decisions on their new installations,” said Julien Soulet, vice president and general manager, Honeywell Fluorine Products Europe, Middle East and Africa. “Cost and energy required to run a refrigeration system represent the most significant share of the financial and environmental impact.'
