Multi-purpose tester for leaks and mechanical faults.
Primalec has released its new USX-2, the multipurpose testing instrument to help engineers identify leaks of pressurised refrigerants, vacuum leaks, electrical faults, worn compressor bearings and more.
Most malfunctions, faults or flaws in mechanical, electric and pneumatic devices as well as containers start as small defects or leaks and these produce sounds far above the upper limits of the range of human hearing, in the 38kHz to 43kHz range. The USX-2 allows the user to ‘hear’ these faults and pinpoint them, making it valuable for preventative maintenance.
The ultrasonic receiver handset converts inaudible ultrasonic frequencies into sounds that humans can hear. It also replicates the timbre of the sound you would expect to hear.
This new design has a bandwidth control not seen on its USX-1 predecessor, as well as a volume control now making it even easier to pinpoint leaks or mechanical and electrical faults. An ultrasound transmitter is also available so that the integrity of seals in doors and other closed containers can be tested.
