Green Business Fund gives SMEs access to capital

Small and medium-sized businesses in England, Scotland and Wales can now claim capital contributions of up to 30 per cent of the cost for energy saving projects, up to a maximum of £10,000, through the Carbon Trust’s Green Business Fund.

This capital contribution has been doubled from the previously available 15 per cent, in order to support even more businesses to invest in new and more efficient equipment that can help them cut their bills and reduce carbon emissions.

The £7m fund has been available since April this year and is offered on a first come-first served basis. As well as capital contributions for new equipment, businesses are able to receive energy opportunity assessments and implementation advice, either remotely or through on-site support.

The Carbon Trust is also hosting a series of local workshops around Great Britain where smaller businesses are provided with training to help them identify and take advantage of energy saving opportunities.
