Clitheroe and Huddersfield based catering food supplier Total Foodservice Solutions is enhancing its environmental credentials with the purchase of five new dual-compartment Mercedes Benz Sprinter vehicles, cooled by Hubbard 460 Alpha twin evaporator units featuring single-phase scroll compressors for overnight standby.

A refrigeration specification designed to be quiet in operation and use less electricity than conventional standby systems.
Mark Thornton, distribution manager who recently joined Total Foodservice Solutions, said: “As a family business, the environment we work and live in is important to us. Working closely with Hubbard Products and Leeds based van converter GRP Group, the 460AELT Total Foodservice specified was the perfect solution for the five new vehicles that undertake both rural and metropolitan multiple drops each day. With frequent door openings a fast pull down was essential. However, the need to keep noise levels to a minimum was also a central consideration. The sprinter vehicles offer significant agility in navigating narrow country roads, serving the growing number of premium hospitality and gastro-pub venues that form an important part of Total Foodservice’s portfolio of customers.
The twin compartment vehicles enhance Total Foodservice’s overall fleet of More than 30 vehicles and are part of a planned replacement process to ensure Total Foodservice’s high-quality service levels are maintained, day and night, 365 days a year. Reliability of the refrigeration system and a prompt and comprehensive engineering support service were also key factors in determining the choice of the manufacturer of the refrigeration system.
Hubbard Products regional sales manager for transport refrigeration, Jed Sherwood, said: “Hubbard Products’ refrigeration systems are now specified on over 50% of Total Foodservice’s chilled and frozen delivery vehicles, ranging from Eutectic beam systems to high-performance freezers and chillers for dual compartment box body and panel vans.
