BPMA’s CE marking guidance is a hit

The first ‘CE Marking Guidance Course’, staged by the British Pump Manufacturing Association (BPMA) on 16 July 2019, has been heralded a great success by all those who attended – members and non-members alike.

Gary Wilde, technical services officer at the BPMA.

Non-compliant pumping equipment remains a major problem in the UK market, where CE marking is compulsory.

All companies that build pumping equipment, such as booster sets, pressurisation units, rainwater harvesting tanks, sewage stations or bespoke equipment and who sell products in the UK or to the European market must be able to demonstrate that the products meet applicable EU requirements, are correctly CE marked and are placed on the market with the correct Declaration of Conformity.

Concerned that many companies still do not meet these obligations under current legislation, the BPMA specifically developed this training course to help address what is a key issue.

It provides the information and skills required to understand Self Certification CE Marking Essentials and enable compliance with a range of Directives, Regulations and EN Standards. It also covers other related product certification and documentation issues.

Gary Wilde, technical services officer at the BPMA, and course leader, commented: “It is so important that companies understand that in order to place their products correctly on the market they need to look at what they do and the guidelines that are there to help them. It was therefore really pleasing to see so many companies represented on the course, especially from within the UK set-building community.”

Indeed, such was the interest in this initial guidance session, with all 30 places being quickly taken, that a second session has now been scheduled for 01 October. It will again take place at the BPMA Offices in West Bromwich.
