BESA Yorkshire helps road deaths charity

A national charity based in Brighouse, West Yorkshire, has received a boost from the Building Engineering Services Association (BESA).

A national charity based in Brighouse, West Yorkshire, has received a boost from the Building Engineering Services Association (BESA).

Chairman of BESA Yorkshire, Andrew Hudson of G&H Sustainability, presented a cheque for £2,000 to Support and Care after Road Death and Injury (SCARD). The money was raised through a raffle that took place during the Yorkshire Region's Annual Ball in Harrogate.

Mr Hudson said: 'The BESA Yorkshire region and the many companies supporting our event were delighted to be able to assist in the valuable work undertaken by SCARD.'

SCARD relies on fundraising to finance the many services it offers, with practical, emotional and legal advice and assistance being provided to individuals affected by road deaths in the UK.

Charity trustee John Scruby said: 'We are extremely grateful for any financial support we receive. SCARD cannot survive without donations and to receive an amount such as this from BESA is a fantastic result.' He added that the BESA donation would help to pay for SCARD's 365-day helpline facility, as well as its workshops and counselling services.

Further information on SCARD and its activities is available at www.SCARD.org.uk, or on 01484 723649. The National Helpline number is 0845 1235542.
