The refrigeration and air-conditioning industry is facing substantial challenges. First and foremost is the F-gas Regulation, which requires a step-by-step reduction, or phase-down, of consumption of fluorinated greenhouse gases.
To contribute towards meeting these ambitious goals, Asercom has issued a new statement on its refrigerant scenario.
For the past two years, Asercom’s refrigerant working group has focused intensively on refrigerant scenarios with the aim of compliance with the EU F-gas Regulation.
Within the scope of this thesis, a separate simulation was developed for the gradual limitation of the use of refrigerants by 2030.
In the new statement on compliance with EU F-gas Regulation, which focuses on commercial refrigeration in Part 1, the association emphasises that selection of alternative - natural or synthetic - refrigerants, should always be on focused on the refrigerant with the least GWP, to meet environmental goals.
However, some important aspects, such as flammability, safety measures, and the monitoring of the discharge temperature in low temperature applications, must be taken into account.
