Emerson to invest $33m in Middle East hq 29 October 2012
DUBAI: Emerson has announced it is investing US$33m in the expansion of its Middle East and Africa headquarters campus in the Jebel Ali Free Zone in Dubai. With new distribution and testing facilities, assembly areas and offices, the expanded headquarters campus will enable Emerson to closely support its customers in the region.

Frascold to set up assembly plant in India 29 October 2012
INDIA: Italian refrigeration compressor and condensing unit manufacturer Frascold is to invest around £1.2m in a factory in Gujarat in a joint venture with its partner Frascold India.

THAILAND: Japanese air conditioning manufacturers Toshiba Carrier Corporation, Fujitsu General and its manufacturing subsidiary FGA (Thailand) are to form a joint venture in Thailand to manufacture twin rotary compressors.

SAE International, the standards-setting association representing automotive engineers, says it is working with an international group of car manufacturers to investigate the formation of a new Cooperative Research Program (CRP) to investigate the safety of R1234yf.

Business group criticises Sainsbury's over supplier payment times 19 October 2012
UK: Supermarket giant Sainsbury's has been criticised by the Forum of Private Business (FPB) for having increased all non-food supplier payment times from 30 to 75 days. However, a spokesman for the supermarket group told ACR News that the new payment times would not apply to air conditioning or refrigeration equipment suppliers, contractors, service or maintenance companies.

UK: NuAire, the Caerphilly-based air handling, heat recovery and ventilation manufacturer, has received two awards - for Innovation and for Creative Design - at the Made in Wales Awards in Cardiff tonight.

EUROPE: The European air conditioning and refrigeration contractors association, AREA, has published what it sees as minimum requirements for the training and certification of contractors working with low GWP refrigerants.

EUROPE: Air conditioning and refrigeration industry group EPEE has reiterated its support for a cap and phase down of HFC refrigerants, while restating its opposition to product usage bans and a proposal in the F-gas revision to bring an end to pre-charged equipment.
