Thermostatic expansion valves TE 5 - TE 55 and TGE for R407F and R407A

Having previously released T2 / TE 2 for R407F and R407A in 2014 Danfoss has now increased the range of thermostatic expansion valves available for these refrigerants with the addition of TE 5–TE 55 and TGE models.

The above code numbers will be included in the corresponding datasheets in the next update. Apart from the suitability for the new refrigerants R407F and R407A, the general features of these new variants are identical to those of other standard valves. Further code numbers are available upon request.

The valves are labelled with two refrigerants, i.e. R407F/R407A, meaning that the valves will work on systems charged with either of the refrigerants. However, the static superheat setting is made according to R407F. If the valve is to be used on systems charged for R407A, a minor adjustment can be made. In many situations, however, this will not be necessary.

Factory setting (static superheat) is:

  • On systems charged with R407F, TE 5-TE 55 and TGE, range N: SSH = 7.2 °F (4.0 °C)
  • On systems Charged with R407A, TE 5-TE 55 and TGE, range N: SSH = 4.9°F (2.7 °C)
  • On systems charged with R407F, TE 5-TE 55 range NM, NL: SSH =7.2 °F (4.0 °C)
  • On systems charged with R407A, TE 5-TE 55, range NM, NL: SSH = 5.0 °F (2.8°C)

To bring the setting of the valve back to 7.2 °F (4.0 °C), as when used on a system charged with R407A, the setting should be increased by approximately 2 turns (TE 5–TE 55) or 1 turn (TGE) on the setting spindle.
