The new high efficiency RadiCal range from ebm-papst

RadiCal is a radically new, backward curved, centrifugal fan used for ventilation, air-conditioning, heat pump and control cabinet cooling applications. It is available in a range of sizes from 133mm to 500mm diameter and can be used as a direct alternative to older impeller designs.

RadiCal uses the latest in composite material technology to optimise the aerodynamic characteristics of the impeller. The innovative design of the air path reduces air turbulence by using rounded inlet contours on the cover plate and base plate. This significantly increases the aerodynamic efficiency of the fan giving an outstanding noise reduction of up to 3 dB (A). When coupled with a GreenTech EC motor energy consumption can be reduced by up to 50%, already exceeding the efficiency targets set by the European Energy-related-Products (ErP) directive which will come into force in 2015.

The design of the motor heat management system has also been optimised. Air inlets in the rotor ensure excellent heat dissipation for the motor, which in turn increases efficiency considerably. The stator is completely encapsulated in a high-performance plastic to give a high level of IP protection suitable for virtually any application.
