NEW COURSES TO COVER F-GAS REGULATIONS

Business Edge Ltd now offers the new ConstructionSkills Training Courses to meet the legal requirements of EC Regulation 842/2006 (commonly known as the F-Gas Regulation). The Certification Schemes are designed for operatives who install, service and repair refrigeration, air conditioning and Heat Pump Systems, and require the following skills:

·         Safe Handling of Refrigerant Techniques.

·         Pipework and Jointing Skills.

·         Recovery of Refrigerants (restricted to small systems only)

·         Intrusive and Non-Intrusive Leak and Performance Checking of Systems.  

There will be 4 Categories of Certification:

• Category 1 (J11)

      Leakage check, recovery, install, service, maintain - all Systems.

• Category 2 (J12)

Leakage check, recovery, install, service, maintain - Systems less than 3kg (6kg hermetically sealed).

• Category 3 (J13)

      Recovery of refrigerant.

• Category 4 (J14)

Leakage check. 

Pipework & Brazing will form part of the new F-Gas Assessment. Business Edge Ltd therefore advises delegates with little or no experience in Oxy-Acetylene Brazing to attend a ConstructionSkills Pipework & Brazing Competency Certification Course prior to being assessed under the new F-Gas Scheme. 

There are two Schemes available:

1)       Industrial

a.       This Scheme allows delegates to carry out Pipework and Brazing on a range of Industrial Refrigeration pipe sizes. The delegate will have to produce a Practical Test Piece (1" 1/8 to 1" 5/8) ,which will be Pressure Tested in accordance with the relevant European Standard and then subjected to a destructive test to ensure a leak free joint.

2)       Commercial

a.       This Scheme allows delegates to carry out Pipework and Brazing on a range of Commercial Refrigeration pipe sizes. The delegate will have to produce a Practical Test Piece (5/8" to 7/8") ,which will be Pressure Tested in accordance with the relevant European Standard and then subjected to a Destructive Test to ensure a leak-free joint.

Attendees wishing to obtain one of the above Qualifications have several options available to them:

1)       Stand alone F-Gas Training and Assessment Course:

a.       Cat 1 (J11) 3 Days Duration £520.00 + VAT

b.       Cat 2 (J12) 3 Days Duration £520.00 + VAT

c.       Cat 3 (J13) 2 Days Duration £350.00 + VAT

d.       Cat 4 (J14) 1 Days Duration £230.00 + VAT

2)       Combined Pipework and Brazing and F-Gas Training and Assessment Course

a.       Cat 1 (J11 & J05) 5 Days Duration £800.00 + VAT

b.       Cat 1 (J12 & J04) 5 Days Duration £800.00 + VAT

(Saving of £215.00 based upon the cost of attending the courses separately)

3)       Modular Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Training and Assessment Course

a.       Cat 1 (J11,J05, U01) 10 Days Duration £1650.00 + VAT

 (Saving of £250.00 based upon the cost of attending the courses separately)

Option 3 is a comprehensive 10 day Course, covering all F-Gas legal requirements and Regulation and more! The Course includes an introduction to Air Conditioning & Refrigeration and all the theoretical aspects an Engineer requires. The Course continues with the ConstructionSkills Essential Electrics (U01), this including practical and theoretical elements covering safe isolation, testing of electrical circuitry, accurate measurement of electrical circuitry and more, leading on to mainly practical training elements covering Installation, Commissioning and Service Engineering of AC&R products/systems. Delegates have the opportunity to carry out all relevant practices for placing Refrigeration Systems into operation. The practical work is designed to fit the Assessment requirements of the F-Gas Regulation.  During the second week, attendees cover all practical training and subsequent Assessments for Pipework and Brazing of Refrigeration Systems and will conclude with either Cat 1 or Cat 2 F-Gas Assessments.
