Fridge-freezer explodes on Isle of Wight 15 February 2012
AN ISOBUTANE refrigerant leak in a domestic fridge-freezer is thought to have been the cause of an explosion which rocked a house in Ventnor, Isle of Wight, on Monday morning. Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident which occurred just after 7am but the elderly resident was left in shock.

According to natural refrigerants group Shecco, the UK currently has 267 supermarkets running transcritical CO2 systems, behind Denmark's 424, but way ahead of Germany (166), Switzerland (149) and Norway (134).
